ADEWALE SOLARIN, FMAN, FPNGMS, FNMS, a Professor of Mathematics was the Director/Chief Executive Officer, National Mathematical Centre (NMC), Abuja, from 31st March, 2013 to 1st August, 2016. He was the President of African Mathematical Union (AMU) in July, 2013 to July, 2017. He is currently, President, African Mathematical Union Pan African Mathematics Olympiads Commission (AMU-PAMOC). He was appointed COMSATS Distinguished Professor of Mathematics in 2014. He was appointed a member of the Scientific Board of UNESCO’s International Basic Science Programme, Paris, France on 28th January, 2015 and UNESCO Chair of Mathematics the same year. Before his appointment as CEO, he was the Dean, School of Mathematical Studies; Coordinator, Tertiary Institutions Students Mathematics Competitions; Principal Trainer, Nigerian Team for International Mathematics Olympiads; Coordinator, Mental Mathematics for Basic Education Programme; all at the National Mathematical Centre, Abuja, Nigeria. At the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria, he was Deputy Vice – Chancellor (Dec. 2004 to Dec. 2006), a member of the Governing Council of (2000-2006); Director, Academic Planning, (2000-2004); Head, Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria (1997-2000).

Adewale wrote an M. Sc. thesis in Statistics and a Ph. D. thesis in Mathematics.
He has supervised student theses (B. Sc., M. Sc., Ph. D., PGD, MBA, and MBF) in topics in Mathematics, Statistics, Quality Control, Computer Science, and Business Management in Nigeria and abroad.
He has published more than 40 papers in statistics and mathematics in internationally reputable journals. He has written more than 20 papers on Total Quality Management and related topics for journals, seminars, workshops and conferences.
He has supervised or co-supervised more than 50 postgraduate theses, including 12 PhDs, eight (8) of them have attained professorial cadre, with six (6) full professors.

Adewale’s first experience with curriculum development and implementation dated back to 1982, when he designed the B. Sc. Statistics programme of the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State. Since then, he has coordinated the design of other thirteen curricula up to Ph.D. level.
Adewale has served as external examiner to Universities in Nigeria and abroad for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes including examination of Ph.D. theses. He was an external examiner in the Department of Mathematics, University of Dar-Es-Salaam, Dar-Es-Salaam, Tanzania (2004-2006) and Department of Mathematics, Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda (2006-2008). He has served as chairman of many Science accreditation teams of the National Universities Commission for academic programmes. He has also served as chairman of NUC team for institutional accreditation of Universities.

Adewale has coordinated many international conferences, workshops and programmes.
Adewale has been involved in Mathematics Olympiads since 2004 with his appointment into the Pan African Mathematics Olympiads Commission. He has been Chief trainer of the Nigerian Olmypiads teams since 2007. International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) Team Leader for Nigeria from 2013 to 2016 a period that climax Nigeria’s exploits at International Olympiads. This period recorded a Nigerian having perfect score in PAMO in two consecutive years, a record that is difficult to break.
Adewale was the brain behind the establishment of IAGIFTED in 2008 as a respond to the clarion call from African Academics in Diaspora for him to extend his mentorship of young Africans in the universities to the lower level to catch them young.
